THE Y EXPERIENCE

Experiences during the early years of life influence how children view their world, how they relate to others and their ability to success as learners. The YMCA Child Care curriculum acts as a teaching guide to support all aspects of a child's development which includes:

  • To support and strengthen the family unit.
  • To help children develop to their fullest potential.
  • To create a safe and positive environment.
  • To teach, model, celebrate, practice, and praise.
  • To reinforce the Y's four core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
  • Recognize the importance of social and emotional development.

With so many demands on today's families, parents need all the support they can get. That's why childcare at the Y is about more than looking after kids. It's about nurturing their development by providing a safe place to learn foundational skills, develop healthy trusting relationships, and build self-reliance.

EXPERIENCED TEACHERS

All child care teachers have been finger printed, background checked, certified in First Aid & CPR, and have at least 12 early childhood education units. Teachers attend annual trainnings and conferences to continue their education.

CURRICULUM
Toddler Curriculum

We plan a variety of fun learning activities to help them solve, predict, plan, share, cooperate, and understand how to get along in their world. Again, the focus is on maximizing play and learning experiences in daily routines with art, outdoor time, stories and read, food projects, creative movement, imitating and pretending. The Y Child Care Center promotes positive self-esteem and self-help skills.

Preschool Curriculum

Our teachers work hard to make sure that your child is able to make an easy transition from Preschool to Kindergarten. Our lesson plans include activities in science, art, math, language, and both large & fine motor skills. We work on increasing independence and teach skills for their social and emotional well-being. It is our hope that each child will have the tools they need to step into kindergarten with their best foot forward.

STATE LICENSING

All of our child care sites are licensed by the State of California. Being a licensed facility assures you and your family that your child is in a safe and clean environment. In addition, the YMCA of Superior California strives to set quality standards for all child care sites that far surpass state licensing requirements. License #340311130, #340311102, #340311129
