For many children, families and adults in our communities, the Y is the safe and nurturing place they turn to for values-based programs and activities that provide encouragement and support in helping them reach their highest potential.
You can make a difference in the life of a local child or family through a gift to the YMCA. Your charitable gift can impact the life of an underserved pre-school child, an idle teenager, a deserving single parent or an isolated senior adult. Whether you give to the annual Strong Kids Campaign, make an on-line contribution, support the Kids to Camp campaign, a special event, or contribute to the Y’s endowment fund, you can make an impact.
To get involved as a volunteer in any of our fund raising activities contact your local YMCA.
Questions about Supporting the Y
Why give to the Y?
In 2009, the YMCA of Superior California has served 11,911 people of all ages and provided more than $325,000 in financial assistance to local children, families and adults, enabling them to benefit from Y programs like child care, youth sports, aquatics, camp and teen development.
Is the Y tax exempt?
Yes. The YMCA is exempt from federal income tax under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, and contributions are tax-deducible to the fullest extent of the law.
Can I designate a gift to a specific service area or program?
Of course! Your philanthropic goals are important to us. Just let us know which service area and/or program is nearest and dearest to your heart, and we’ll make sure your contribution is allocated accordingly.
Does the YMCA accept gifts in honor of, or in memory of a family member, loved one or friend?
Absolutely. If you wish to make an honorary or memorial donation, we will send personalized letters acknowledging the gift to the recipient or appropriate family members.
Are there other ways to give to the YMCA?
Yes. Gifts of stock, appreciated assets, charitable trusts, or gift annuities provide other options for investing in your local Y. For additional information, please contact our Financial Development Office, 916-452-9622 x 108.
