Summer at the Y and Bear Valley Camp

At the Y we provide a safe, nurturing, and fun environment to engage the interests of all kids. Our adventures are non-stop and our activities reinforce the values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

Summer at the Y creates an exciting, safe environment for kids to have an unforgettable summer of fun. While they are taking part in unique experiences and adventures, they are also building self-esteem, developing interpersonal skills and making lasting friendships.

Woodland Kinder Camp Registration STILL OPEN!

PLUS! Need a destination for summer adventure?

Look no further than Bear Valley YMCA Resident Camp!

Bear Valley YMCA Camp has been a destination for summer adventure for more than 80 years. At Bear Valley, we believe that every child should have the opportunity to experience the wonders of the High Sierra in a safe and caring environment.

Located near Emigrant Gap, Bear Valley provides kids with rewarding and life changing experiences. There are camping opportunities for ages 8-13 (Traditional Camp), ages 14-16 (Counselor in Training), and all ages (Family Camp).

New this year: Volunteer Junior Counselors

Too old to be a CIT? Too young to be a Counselor? 17 year olds can volunteer at camp during the 2023 summer season as "Junior Counselors''!

That’s Right - Youth Video Game Leagues!

Are you looking for a way to give purpose to your child’s love for video games? The YMCA Esports Program offers curriculum-based learning, while also being engaging and fun for kids who are passionate about video games. Using Nintendo Switches and popular Nintendo games, such as Super Smash Bros, players meet in-person to learn valuable teamwork and communication skills, while also improving their gaming strategies.

(Owning a Nintendo Switch is not necessary for this program. We have loaners you can use during the class.)

Practice begins June 19th and continues every Monday. The junior division (ages 6-9) will be 4:00-5:15 pm, the 10-14 age division will be 5:30-7:00 pm at the Yolo County YMCA on College Street. This program ends on August 14th.

MAKING

A

DIFFERENCE

Employee of the Month

Each month, the Yolo County YMCA nominates a staff member who has gone above and beyond in their dedication to the Y. June's Employee of the month is Christopher D.!

Christopher has been a YMCA employee for almost a year, working in the sports department as a referee and Esports coach.  He has shown dedication, maturity and leadership skills beyond his age, and is a great role model for the players.

Christopher has taken on extra responsibilities and extra games as needed. Once this season he took extra hours and ref'd 8 hours in one day! He is not afraid to step up and take on leadership roles in sports he doesn't know much about. The kids and parents like him for his approachability and the way he positively helps the players learn about sportsmanship and the rules of the game. Christopher will soon be a junior at Woodland High School and in his spare time he enjoys boxing. Thanks, Christopher, for all you do for the Y!
