WAY TO CROCHET Learn To Crochet Classes  SACRAMENTO CENTRAL YMCA CROCHET 1A  This class covers crochet basics. Learn how to select yarn and hook sizes, hold your hook and yarn, and work the following stitches: Chain, single crochet, half double crochet, and double crochet. Knowing how to work these basic stitches will help build a foundation for the beginner crocheter to be able to make a variety of projects, such as scarves, hats, coffee sleeves, and more! Your crochet swatches you'll make with guided instruction will introduce you to gauge, and you'll work on developing your crochet tension, counting stitches and rows, and recognizing the difference between the stitches taught. When: Mondays at 4:15pm (August 12th-August 26th) / Fridays at 12:30pm (August 9th-August 23rd)  Where: Studio B Cost: $30 for Members / $50 for Non-Members (Pricing includes three, 1-hour classes.)  Supplies: Provided for in-class use only. (Purchase of a crochet hook and skein of yarn for at-home practice is recommended; guidance will be provided in first class.)  CROCHET 1B This class builds upon the skills learned in Crochet 1A. Learn how to crochet in the round, slip stitch, increase, and more as you make a crochet beanie! Additional instruction and practice with gauge is included in the class content. Introduction to reading, interpreting, and following a crochet pattern and decoding crochet abbreviations will be covered. *Prerequisite: Must have completed Crochet 1A or have experience with double crochet.   When: Thursdays at 12:30pm (August 15th-August 29th)  Where: Metro Office (1926 V Street) Cost: $35 for Members / $55 for Non-Members (Pricing includes three, 1-hour classes and a skein of yarn.) Supplies: Bring 6mm crochet hook. Yarn for crochet beanie project provided. CROCHET 1C This class introduces and explores more complex stitches and techniques using skills learned in Crochet 1A & 1B. Additionally, learn to change yarn skein colors within a project and work in a spiral. *Prerequisite: Must have completed Crochet 1A and 1B, or have experience with the skills outlined in each of these courses above.  When: Tuesdays at 12:30pm (August 13th-27th) / Thursdays at 4:30pm (August 15th-29th) Where: Studio B Cost:  $40 for Members / $60 for Non-Members (Pricing includes three, 1-hour classes and 2 skeins of yarn.)  Supplies: Bring 5mm, 5.5mm, or 6mm crochet hook.  PLAN A PERFECT PARTY All About Cheese August Maker Class  SACRAMENTO CENTRAL YMCA Learn how to create the perfect cheese plate for your next party or holiday gathering. Participants will sample a variety of cheeses and learn how to pair them with complimentary accompaniments and flavor profiles. A history and description of the techniques used to create washed rind, alpine, soft-ripened, hard, and fresh cheeses will be provided. A brief history of the traditions and regions most famous for their cheesemaking traditions will also be covered.    When: Tuesday, August 13th at 5:30pm  Where: Metro Office (1926 V Street) Cost: $20 Pre-registration is required by Friday, August 9th at Member Services or ymcasuperiorcal.org. 3 participants minimum.
