Private and Semi-Private Swim lessons

Semi-Private Swim Lessons

Our Semi-Private lessons are with 2 participants per instructor. Swimmers work together in semi-private lessons and learn cooperation and teamwork.  Participants play games, practice water safety, learn to encourage one another, respect individual differences, listen, and cooperate in a small group setting.

Semi-Private lesson are offered Mondays and Wednesdays in 8 classes for a duration of 30 minutes or Saturdays in 4 classes for a duration of 45 minutes.

Semi-private lessons are offered for preschool children (Ages 3-5) and School Age children (ages 6-12).

There are  3 different levels for each age group:

Preschool Age Program (Ages 3-5)

Beginner Class - This class is for entry level swimmers. They will learn the basic skills including water comfort, basic movement, and control in the water, and how to safely exit the water. Swimmers should be comfortable swimming without a parent but are still reliant on an instructor to assist them in swimming.

Intermediate Class – This class is for mid-level swimmers. Swimmers should be capable of swimming independently for short distances. In this class, participants will begin learning how to safely swim longer distances along with integrated arm and leg techniques.

Advanced Class – This class is for advanced swimmers who can swim longer distances independently. Swimmers will begin learning the front and back crawl along with rhythmic breathing techniques. They will also be working on swimming endurance in this class.

Group swim lessons are not for everyone. Whether your child learns better in a one-on-one environment or you prefer the convenience of planning their lessons around a busy schedule, we can accommodate you. Private lessons are great for children who thrive with individual attention, teens, and adults who are first learning to swim, or anyone looking to perfect their stroke.

  • Lesson can be used daily, weekly, or monthly.

All Private swim lesson participants will be eligible for a partial refund (all but $10 processing fee) if they choose to drop out of lessons before the first week of your private swim lesson. There are NO REFUNDS after the first week of private swim lessons. The only exception is a pro-rated refund for special situations including an injury where child is unable to finish the session or a family related emergency where child is unable to complete the session. A credit for the pro-rated cost of the lesson will be issued if the YMCA has to cancel a swim lesson due to pool closure.

Make-up Policy:

To be eligible for a make-up you must call or email the Aquatics Coordinator or the Aquatics Director 24 hours in advance if you know you are going to miss a lesson.

Not showing up with no notice will still be considered a lesson and will count towards the Private Swim Lesson Package purchased.

If your instructor calls out sick you are eligible for a make up for that lesson. We will notify you of the cancellation as soon as possible, and you will be able to rebook a new lesson at the Member Services desk.
