Together we can make a difference
Have a passion for supporting and developing youth?
Possess organizational skills, patience and dependability?
Have a sound character, strong morals, values and personal ethics?
If you answered YES to the questions above, then please consider becoming a coach at the Y! Join our next coaches meeting (schedule below) to learn more.
Our volunteer coaches are cause-driven role models with a passion and enthusiasm for ensuring that kids have a positive, encouraging and fun experience with sports and teamwork. YOU can make the difference!
Coaches can leave a lasting impression on children long after the season is over. Without volunteer coaches, we would not be able to offer our quality Youth Sports programs. The majority of our coaches are parents with a similar philosophy to the Y: sportsmanship and fun are primary goals; winning and losing are secondary. The responsibilities of a coach include promoting the Y philosophy to players, making sure all children get equal playing time and ensuring that you yourself, are a model of sportsmanship and fair play.
All coaches must attend a coaches meeting prior to each season.
We believe that a youth sports program is only as strong as its coaches and that is why we want you to have all the tools you need for your season. Below you will find downloadable manuals, information on sports concussions, online training information, and where to subscribe for weekly coaches talking points.
Concussions can occur in any sport or recreation activity. So, all coaches, parents, and athletes need to learn concussion signs and symptoms and what to do if a concussion occurs. A free training course is available at the HEADS UP Concussion in Youth Sports website.
Click hereto register to receive your FREE subscription to Talking Points. These weekly emails include key topics and points for coaches to discuss with their players. Each Talking Points issue sparks conversations that can lead to:
improved athletic performance
stronger team bonds
the teaching and learning of life lessons through sports
Talking Points helps you help your players become "Better Athletes, Better People" while learning life lessons in teamwork, accountability, persistence and other character traits of value beyond sports.
