Orientations & Assessments
At the YMCA, we’re here to help you feel confident, capable, and ready to reach your goals from day one. That’s why we offer every new member a complimentary Fitness Orientation and the option to add a personalized Health & Wellness Assessment.
Health & Wellness at the YMCA
All YMCA members receive a complimentary Fitness Orientation upon joining!
Our Offerings:
Fitness Orientation (Complimentary for Members): Schedule a 30-minute walk-through with one of our Trainers to get familiar with fitness equipment, group fitness and aquatics schedules, and learn about personal training, semi-private training, small group training, and nutrition services.
Health & Wellness Assessment ($20): Book a session with a Certified Health & Fitness Professional to discuss your goals, health history, and preferred training styles. You’ll receive a customized program tailored to your needs. Personal Training clients will be credited $20 toward a training package purchase.

Jen Keith-Weaver
Jen is an ISSA-certified Personal Trainer and Corrective Exercise Specialist with a B.A. from San José State University. She specializes in weight loss, strength training, HIIT, and bootcamp workouts, helping clients of all abilities feel stronger, more confident, and healthier inside and out.
Hallie Fisher
Hallie is a NASM-certified Personal Trainer and Nutrition Coach, AFAA Group Fitness Instructor, and CPR/First Aid certified. With over 30 years in the fitness industry, she specializes in strength and conditioning, HIIT, stretching/Pilates, and midlife fitness for women, helping clients build confidence, discover their strength, and create lasting fitness.
Allison Wilder
Allison is a NASM-certified Personal Trainer and lifelong athlete with a background in collegiate coaching. She specializes in strength training, weight loss, sports-specific training, and senior fitness, helping clients build consistency, set achievable goals, and stay healthy, starting with that first step.
Lily Geurin-Henley
Lily is an ACE-certified Personal Trainer with a B.S. in Kinesiology from CSU Sacramento. She specializes in personal training and group fitness and brings a beginner’s mindset to every workout. A lifelong Y member, Lily is passionate about helping others explore new ways to move, build confidence, and grow stronger; no matter where they’re starting from.
Muhammed Alam
Muhammad is an NCSF-certified Personal Trainer and Stages-certified Cycling Instructor with a B.S. in Kinesiology from CSU Sacramento. He specializes in strength and conditioning, athletic performance (soccer), and cycling. Muhammad is passionate about helping clients of all levels move better, build strength, and gain confidence, bringing motivation, enthusiasm, and a detail-oriented approach to every session.

The YMCA is not like ordinary gyms. Our mission is to Inspire all to a healthy life in spirit, mind, and body. With that mission in mind we pride ourselves in community, and we hope that by choosing one of our certified personal trainers that you will feel included in this community as well.
YMCA Members have access to a complimentary Fitness Orientation where a trainer or coach will walk through some of the fitness offerings we have at the YMCA, but this is not a training assessment.
To starting Personal Training with us, each participant will complete an intake assessment. Assessments are $15 for Y Members and $30 for Community Members. After the initial assessment we offer private and semi-private personal training in 1, 4, 8 and 12 pack sessions that can be divided throughout the month, and will expire 90 days after purchase if not scheduled.
Once you have completed your intake assessment, the Health & Wellness Department will provide you a link to pay online or you can pay in person at the Member Services Desk.
We encourage that you complete sessions within a 30 day period to accelerate your fitness goals, however you will have up to 90 days to utilize your sessions with a trainer before your package expires.
All of our trainers are certified through a nationally recognized agency including NSCA, NASM, ACE, ACSM, NFPT, ISSA, NESTA, NETA, NCSF, NCCPT, or a Degree in related field.
Private training will be a 1 on 1 experience with a personal trainer. While semi-private training will be a 2 to 1 experience.
Personal training is available to everyone in the community! There is discounted pricing for YMCA members.

During your Health & Wellness Assessment your trainer will monitor as you do various exercises to build a baseline fitness starting point. This assessment will help your trainer build a program that is best suited for your needs!
The Fitness Orientation provides general information about equipment and locations around the facility. During this time, a staff member will take you around the facility and answer any questions you may have regarding what to do in each location i.e. cardio room, weight room, and stretching area. The Health & Wellness Assessment is personalized to your specific needs to help you reach your movement and fitness goals.
Absolutely, our trainers will work with you to create a progressive program based on your needs and goals that allow you to progress towards your goals while taking into account any accommodations needed as well.
Yes, in many cases working with a trainer will help your condition. Your trainer will make the appropriate accommodations to your program allowing you to progress in spite of your condition.
Youths 10+ are able to participate in Personal Training services and their caregiver can be included in the session as well!
