Help me raise $2,500 for YMCA Youth Programs
For 16 years, I've worked to grow the next generation of civically engaged Californians. The YMCA’s Youth & Government (Y&G) program provides an unmatched experiential learning opportunity for high school students. By modeling California’s legislature and courts, participants have the opportunity to build skills such as critical thinking, persuasive speech and writing, project management, and collaboration. Our program is rooted in the YMCA’s core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility, and believes in the importance of servant leadership and media literacy to a healthy democracy.
It's that connection to character development that sets our program apart from other extracurricular activities. Watching delegates grow into the best versions of themselves - guided by empathy and friendship - keeps our team of 15 adult volunteer advisors coming back each year. Especially in these pandemic times, the connections and stability Y&G provide have proved invaluable to our delegates.
Though we have an amazing group of delegates, we have too few of them. This program's impact is too great to reserve for just the chosen few who can afford it. With your help, we can empower youth from every corner of our region and equip them with the tools they need to lead, to serve, and to save the world.
