Empowering Tomorrow’s Leaders: Youth & Government Conference Returns to Sacramento
Sacramento recently welcomed approximately 2,500 students from across California for the YMCA Youth & Government Conference — an immersive, hands-on experience in civic leadership.
During the four-day event, students stepped into roles as legislators, attorneys, judges, and media members, debating bills, participating in mock trials, and drafting policy proposals. The conference helped participants build confidence, strengthen public speaking skills, and gain a deeper understanding of how state government works.
Sacramento County’s Office of Emergency Services supported the event by staffing a 24-hour first aid station through the Sacramento Medical Reserve Corps. Volunteer medical professionals ensured a safe environment for attendees, showcasing the importance of community partnership and public service.
The conference continues to inspire young leaders, equipping them with the skills and experience to actively engage in their communities and shape California’s future.
