YMCA MEMBER CATEGORY UPDATE NOTIFICATION

Dear YMCA Members:

I hope this letter is finding you healthy and happy. Even during these difficult times there are exciting changes happening at your YMCA! We are always looking for ways we can improve our services and offerings, and now is a great time for us to make some changes. Some of the changes we are rolling out are:

  • Improved website that is more intuitive and allows for more online registrations
  • New operations and customer management software called Daxko that will be easier for you to register for programs with more secure and easy billing processes
  • Improved virtual offerings that will include not just group exercise classes but social connections and virtual travel guides
  • New and expanded membership options to better meet the diverse needs of our community and at price points that are competitive and give you more choices
  • Clean and sanitized facilities with some upgrades
  • More consistency in quality and offerings between facilities

One of the changes I mentioned above are membership fees and category changes that will go into effect as of 10/20/2020. Many of you will see little-to-no change, however, some will see their membership move to a new category. This new membership plan will also allow you to explore new membership options that fit your life situation. Those we do not hear from prior to October 15 will automatically move into the new membership type that is most like their current category. You can talk with the Membership Services Team via e-mail at membership@ymcasuperiorcal.org or by calling 916.452.9622.

Some of you may ask “why now?” Well, we’ve used our time during the State of California’s re-opening plan wisely to re-imagine how all of our branches in the YMCA of Superior California can come together to create a better Member experience. Part of this plan involved appointing staff with expertise in their fields to run programming throughout the Association, but to do this, we needed to implement a new member management system to oversee everything that we do, which includes having consistency in offerings for all branches. We believe this new system will create a much better user-experience moving forward.

Our new membership structure is as follows:

These changes were born out of research and planning so that we can both continue our programs and services without compromise, and also provide you with a better membership experience. Even after our indoor operations open, new programs such as Virtual Fitness will continue so that you can have your Y-Community throughout this emergency. For those of you moving to a new membership category or pricing structure that is outside of your means, please consider our Y-Assist program so that healthy living can stay affordable to you. If there is a new membership type you prefer to be changed to please let us know by October 15, 2020.

Over these past few months we hope you have seen that the value in a YMCA Membership goes beyond your health. Your Y has been serving the community by providing:

  • emergency child care and distance learning support to the children of essential workers
  • blood drives that helped deliver COVID-19 anti-bodies to patients in their hour of need
  • lunches to children who would have gone hungry during school closures
  • virtual programs to keep community alive for seniors and those who need to shelter
  • meals to the homeless so that no one is overlooked during this crisis

When you joined you were told that the Y is more than a gym and a pool, and we hope you see that now more than ever. Please continue to stay with us and support our efforts. Thank you for being a Member of our Y, and if there is anything else we can do to help support you or improve our service, please let us know.
